Long-time PMSC member Pete Gulliver has spent time in New Zealand.

In addition to the spectacular scenery and drives on some challenging roads “down under”, Pete visited a really fine historic auto museum.

At this month’s (October 30th) PMSC meeting, Pete will present a talk and video about the Southward Car Museum in Paraparumu, NZ .

Join us … The meeting starts at 7:00pm (we meet for dinner at 6:00pm).

Pete’s presentation will start after the business meeting.

All members and guests are welcome.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2019

Opening

The regular meeting of the PETERBOROUGH MOTOR SPORTS CLUB was called to order at 7:13 PM on SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 at KELSEY’S ROADHOUSE IN PETERBOROUGH by President, Dan.

NOTE:  The club had to assemble in the main restaurant because the management double-booked the function room we were supposed to use.  The management offered free appetizers and set up two large tables for us.

UPDATES

  • The latest points totals were circulated by Travis and Dan.
  • RALLY-X Pete G. outlined the successful RALLY-X season.
    • Between 16 and 27 cars were entered in the five events.
    • The series made a very small profit.
    • The same sponsors, Canadian Tire, Peterborough Mitzubishi and Burnt River have signed on for 2020
  • AUTO-CROSS Rich C. reported on a successful season thus far with one more event to go (as of this date) for a total of 11 events.
    • He suggested we reduce the number of events in 2020, perhaps to 8.
    • Travis reported the top three points (PAX) getters. Dillon, 2.Anthony C and Travis (tied).
    • The club will contact Kawartha Downs/Slots about 2020 dates.
    • Rich and Dan discussed having more night events on Friday or Saturday.
  • FUN RALLIES Dan reported we scheduled three fun rally events on Wednesday meeting nights in June, July and August.   The club has used these dates because the Musicfest operates on those nights except for August.  Dan proposed because we no longer will be meeting at the Souvlaki Pit, we can hold a regular June meeting with fun rallies in July and August.

 

  • TSD RALLIES Louis reported that the Spring Run Off Rally, an ORRC event was a success. The President’s Prize Rally, another ORRC event has been organized by Chris Johnson and is scheduled for October 26.
  • The Club level novice events were another story. The Watch Winder ran partially with teams made of folks who showed up to work. The Fall Ball was organized but cancelled due to no interest from members.   Louis said that rally could be used next year for the Watch Winder.
  • RALLY SPRINT Pete G (For organizer Peter Watt) said our rally sprint event is slated for November 2 at Burnt River.
    • Thus far, 15 cars have paid for entry to the event.
    • Pete said we need 18 control marshals, hopefully with radios.
  • KARTING NIGHT
    • One Kart night was organized by Rob Norval.
    • A second night was cancelled due to lack of interest

New Business

  • NEW TRAILER ?
    • Dan brought up the need for a new larger trailer to hold Rally-X equipment.
      • Discussion but no action
    • NEW SOLO LAPTOP
      • Travis and Dan discussed the need for a new laptop for Autocross events.

        • That the Executive (Travis Grubb?) be authorized to purchase a new laptop not exceeding $1,000. APPROVED
      • NEW WEBSITE
        • Pete G. presented a demo new PMSC.ON.CA website design created by Andrew and Teresa Marek.
          • There would be a setup fee plus routine maintenance fee.
          • Club would keep the Nexicom web hosting contract.
          • In addition, club member Jay Quinn expressed interest in being the content director for the new website.

          • That Pete G. consult with the Andrew and Teresa on the price of web development and maintenance and present it to the membership at the most convenient date with all parties.

  • PRESENTATION BY TOM HYLAND ON THE LUPUS GRAND PRIX
    • This is a fund-raising enduro karting event in support of Sick Children’s Hospital Lupus Clinic
    • Held at CTMP Kart Track, Sunday, October 6
    • Tom received several donations from club members.

 

  • PRESENTATION BY JAY QUINN AND NATHAN RUSSELL-MEHARRY
    • Jay and Nathan have established a local tire dealership, Tire Source Canada.
    • They propose their company be the official tire supplier for PMSC.
    • They will offer a special price for PMSC members of $10 over cost.
    • They currently have an online presence for orders and will deliver.
      • ACTION: EXECUTIVE WILL DISCUSS.

 

  • LUCKY DOG RACES
    • Doug A informed the meeting of a Champ Car style race series at CTMP, Shannonville and Calabogie.

 

  • 2020 ICE RACE SCHEDULE
    • PMSC will host the first CASC ice race in Minden.
    • January 18-19, 2020
    • Tim Fleguel is organizer and will be soliciting for workers very shortly.

PRESIDENT’S PRIZE RALLY-OCT. 26, 2019

The President’s Prize Rally, the next to last official competition event on the PMSC calendar for 2019, will take place on Saturday, October 26th.

It is also the next-to-last event in the Rally Sport Ontario’s Ontario Road Rally Championship (ORRC) series.

Start and finish will be at The Big Apple Restaurant just off HWY 401, Exit 497 in Colborne. 262 Orchard Rd, Colborne, ON K0K 1S0

Registration opens 11:30am . Car Zero leaves at 1:00 pm.

The 198 kilometer route is on paved and gravel roads in beautiful  Northumberland County.

Dear PMSC Members,

Since early Spring of this year, there has been no one person responsible for updating and curating the pmsc.on.ca website .

I stepped down from the post after several years of collecting and updating information on events, meetings and other important documentation relating to your club and posting them.

Because I have limited skill sets in maintaining the website, I hoped someone would pick up the task using the basic foundation created by a previous, more-talented, website creator.

BUSY WEEKEND ON THE WAY FOR PMSC EVENTS.

A couple of competitive events are on the slate for Friday evening and Sunday Morning, June 7 & 9.

Peterborough Motorsports Club will be hosting our first ever Auto X evening/ night Auto x event .

Everyone is welcome and we have classes for all cars and all levels of drivers, no experience necessary. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for non members & memberships are always available for $40 for the year, cash only.
Sign in for Auto x will be 5:00 pm-6:30 pm we are limited on time so sign-in will be capped @ 6:45.pm

On Sunday, June 9th, PMSC holds it’s first club level road rally of the season with the Watch Winder Rally.

The 60 km, 1.5 hour run will start and finish at Marty Moo’s Chicken and Ribs, 2205 Keene Rd. It features easy, beginner-level instructions on good area roads in Peterborough County.

Registration opens at 9:45 am.   Car “0” is 11:00 am.

Entry fee is $10/car for PMSC members and $15 for non-members.

Peterborough Kartways Night – June 19th.

PMSC  member Rob Norval has booked the Kartways for WEDNESDAY,  JUNE 19TH.

6:00-8:00 pm.

Rob needs a minimum of 8 people/drivers to make it work. Price is $100 for 8-12 people and $70 for more people than that.

These are great karts and really challenge the driving skills.

For all you plus-sized drivers, maximum driver weight is 235lbs

As for the price, the club executive is thinking of a subsidy for those who attend as we have in the past.

All Rally-Cross events are held at Burnt River Off Road Facility.

The first Rally-Cross is Saturday, April 20th.

UPDATE: CARLAW COLLISION TO SPONSOR NEW PMSC STREET CAR CHALLENGE

UPDATE:   All PMSC Auto Cross events will be held at Kawartha Downs/Speedway,1382 County Road 28, Fraserville, ON.

The Peterborough Motor Sports Club, Inc. is proud to announce that all its Auto Cross events will be held at Kawartha Downs/Speedway on CR 28, Fraserville.  And the other big news is that Carlaw Collision has agreed to sponsor the club’s new Street Car Challenge series.

Organizer Rich Courneya says, “Big shout out out to Corey & the crew at Carlaw Collision for their sponsorship of Peterborough Motorsports Club new Street Car Challenge series”.

The series will be held on six dates after the club’s regular Auto-Cross events on the following dates with *.

The first Auto-Cross/ Street Car Challenge event is May 5, 2019 at Kawartha Downs/Speedway.

Rich adds, “Newcomers are always welcome. Cost is $30 cash for non-members, $20 cash for members. New memberships are always available”.

Come out for a safe, fun way to enjoy your car & meet great people.

Any car can be competitive & there is always guidance if wanted.
